Running Clean, Grassroots, and Let’s Win!
In order to run, we need submit petitions to the Secretary of State’s office with just about 6,000 signatures from Republicans, Independents, and folks that have selected No Party as a preference. Since I have declared officially that I’m in the race, those signatures can begin to be collected right now.
To qualify for Clean Elections funding, we need to begin on August 1st to collect 2,000 signatures on a Clean Elections Qualifying Contribution which is signed on a 3-part NCR paper form and collect $5 dollars in cash, check, or money order from each person who signs. Any registered voter may sign the Clean Elections declaration regardless of party.
For us to win, we will need a solid grassroots effort from folks from all over the state, evenly distributed among the smallest towns and largest cities. We need 500 committed folks to become actively involved, spreading the word and helping with petitions and signatures. With 500 folks, each will need to collect only one petition of 15 signatures which will generate 7,500 signatures; more than enough, with room to spare. With those same 500 folks, each will need to collect 5 signatures with $5 donations each, including their own, and again, we will have plenty.
Running clean means that only a total of $1,280 can be collected from my entire family, that no other citizen can donate more than $140 dollars, and that no money can be collected from a Political Action Committee. Through these efforts, we can collect a maximum total of $22,911 prior to being certified for Clean Elections funding.
While it is 13 months until the primary, the time is now to build a strong, deep foundation for our campaign that will result in an effective educational leader becoming the State Superintendent of Public Instruction. If you wish to volunteer as a key leader please log in and provide your contact info and you’ll receive a confirming email followed by a package with all the necessary forms and info you’ll need to collect signatures and $5 donations as noted above. By the way, those $5 donations all go to the Clean Elections office and are not kept by the campaign.
Finally, of the $22,911 we are allowed to raise prior to Clean Elections certification, we still need another $15,000. If you’d like to donate $5, $10, $20, but please, no more than $140, please do so by sending a check made out to "Gary Nine for Superintendent of Public Instruction" to 1179 N. Williams Drive, Queen Valley, AZ 85118. Once we receive that total allowed, we will return any donations that exceed that amount.
